Fairhaven’s annual town elections will be held this Monday, 4/5/21. Polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There are four contested races in Fairhaven.
Selectboard incumbent Bob Espindola faces challenger Lisa Plante; Tree Warden incumbent G. Bourne Knowles faces challenger Don Carlos Collasius. School Committee has three candidates running for two seats, with incumbents Donna McKenna and Colin Veitch facing a challenge from newcomer Cathleen Marchessault. Board of Health also has a contested race for an open seat, with Barbara Acksen and Kevin Gallagher both on the ballot.
Other offices are: Board of Public Works with both incumbents, Marcus Ferro and Robert “Hoppy” Hobson running unopposed; Town Moderator, with incumbent Mark Sylvia running unopposed; and Housing Authority with one term up for re-election and Ronnie Manzone, who was appointed, running unopposed, and Marc Scanlon running to fill the unexpired term that he was also appointed to.
Planning Board has a rare four seats on the ballot. For the seats up for re-election, both incumbents, David Braga and Cathy Melanson are unopposed. Two seats for unexpired terms are also on the ballot, with one held by Jessica Fidalgo, who was appointed; and one vacant, with Wayne Hayward running a write-in campaign.
All precincts will also choose Town Meeting members.
Precinct one votes at Town Hall, 40 Center Street; precincts two and three voteat Elizabeth Hastings Middle School, 30 School Street; precinct four votes at the Fire Station/ Meeting Room, 146 Washington Street, precincts five and six vote at the Recreation Center, 227 Huttleston Avenue.
