Pond’s letter ignores facts
Mr. Pond: In response to your letter (Neighb News 2/21/19), the 2019 New York Law, does not “allow killing of a late term baby who is born alive, it removes all legal requirements to keep the baby alive” as you stated in your letter. Please read below as this is what the law states. Your citing the Catholic Church is a bit hypocritical as they are now deep in sexual abuse charges and the victims, who trusted the Church, were supposed to have been protected by the Church.
What the law says
“The RHA permits abortions when — according to a medical professional’s “reasonable and good faith professional judgment based on the facts of the patient’s case” — “the patient is within twenty-four weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or the abortion is necessary to protect the patient’s life or health.”
In other words, women may choose to have an abortion prior to 24 weeks; pregnancies typically range from 38 to 42 weeks. After 24 weeks, such decisions must be made with a determination that there is an “absence of fetal viability” or that the procedure is “necessary to protect the patient’s life or health.” That determination must be made by a “health care practitioner licensed, certified, or authorized” under state law, “acting within his or her lawful scope of practice.”
Previously, abortions after 24 weeks were justified only in cases where the mother’s life was at risk — which was inconsistent with a part of the Roe decision.[Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son] also is hypocritical as his beliefs on homosexuality and abortion are not Christian in the true sense of that word. President Trump also misstates laws, ideas, etc. to use to his own end!
I would like to suggest that you read what the facts are and not blame the Democrats for all the “fake” news from the President and talk radio.
And Mr. Pond, I would bake a cake for you no matter who was in bed with you.
