The Fairhaven Conservation Commission will also hold a Public Hearing to seek public comment on the proposed Protection of Buffer Zone article as an amendment to the Fairhaven Wetlands Bylaw (Chapter 192).
In order to protect and preserve the public interests and values of the wetlands and waterways of the Town of Fairhaven, activities in Wetland and Buffer Zone Resource Areas should be avoided to the fullest extent practicable. Based on available information, the Conservation Commission has determined that, generally, maintenance of an undisturbed vegetative buffer zone and associated setbacks will serve to protect most wetland resource areas from adverse impacts related to development elsewhere within the Buffer Zone.
Any persons or organizations interested in providing comments and/or asking questions will be given the opportunity to be heard. If unable to attend this public hearing, please direct questions and comments to Whitney McClees, Conservation Agent at (508) 979-4023. The draft article can be found on the Conservation Commission website and is available at the Conservation Office in Town Hall, located at 40 Center Street, Fairhaven, MA.
